Elliott Lewis

Instructor, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Biography

Elliott Lewis began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Fort McMurray over fifteen years ago. In his early years, he was a regular on the competition scene, testing himself at regional and provincial tournaments and gaining valuable experience that helped shape his approach to the art. Though life brought breaks from training, Jiu-Jitsu was always there waiting when he was ready to return.

At Vanguard, Elliott has discovered a renewed passion for Jiu-Jitsu through teaching. While competition played an important role in his early development, he now finds the greatest reward in mentoring others. His teaching emphasizes the finer points of fundamental techniques, delivered in a positive, encouraging environment where students can steadily build skill and confidence.

For Elliott, coaching is more than just instruction — it has shaped his personal relationships and professional career as well. He values the way Jiu-Jitsu strengthens discipline, respect, and perseverance, and he is committed to passing those lessons on to the next generation of students.
